BARRY X BALL

Barry X Ball (b. 1955, USA) is a renowned figurative sculptor who revitalizes age-old Renaissance traditions using a unique blend of traditional and cutting-edge practices. Ball’s approach combines advanced technologies such as three-dimensional digital scanning and printing, virtual modeling, and computer-controlled milling with meticulous hand carving and polishing. His sculptures honor historical precedents while presenting an entirely new and contemporary vision.

Ball’s impressive works exude both intense energy and surreal stillness, advocating for a reevaluation of modern sculptural techniques. By recreating iconic art-historical pieces, he raises thought-provoking questions about originality and the role of authorship in sculpture. Barry X Ball currently lives and works in New York. His 2,000 sqm studio in Brooklyn, designed by Andrew Berman and recently inaugurated, is one of the most advanced stone sculpture facilities in the world and has immediately become a Greenpoint landmark.
